Ballina based band formed late 2011 are offering audiences feel good music with a conscientious view of not playing what every rock band are playing in the local music scene.

“Inside outlaw” are a 4-piece rock band who could be described as a blend between the sounds of Incubus and Paul Kelly, marrying melodies and hooks with the energy and passion of Australian blue-collar lifestyle. They write ‘real music’ for ‘real people’. Songs written for the everyday person, that inspire hope and resilience in these strange times.
They aim to “Creep it real”, while attempting to make sense of the world and highlight the fact that we’re all in this together. There is something honest and sincere in both their song writing and engaging live performance, balancing a style that is both melodic and memorable, while still managing to have something valuable to say.

Pink Zinc is a 4 piece covers band based in Byron Bay, NSW. Playing a mixture of Rock, Pop, Funk and Soul music, this band is sure to get you up and dancing!
Sarah Grant fronts a dynamic line-up that all share a passion for music. Local phenomenon Harry Nichols handles the guitar with Brendan Lees hitting the skins and Dave Tweedie wrestles with the groove on the bass. Playing classic tunes and originals of Rock/Blues/Soul/Funk/ Pink Zinc pride themselves on delivering a show that entertains old and young, short an tall, bold and beautiful.

Rising from debris of garage jamming in 1998 Qld, Bluesville Station ride the blues scene as a 4-piece modern-blues/rock/boogie crew. Their original sound features duo killer-tone guitars, solid drums, big boogie bass, earthy blues harp and soulful vocal harmonies.
Bluesville Station takes the road rolling sounds of Creedence, mix it with a touch of Neil Young and Johnny Winter’s blues, then throw in strong rock influences from Eric Clapton, and Canned Heat. Join their journey through swamp, on the beach, and on the highway with goodtime rockin’ rollin’ dash tappin’ boogie music.
Often heard on community radio around Australia, songs from latest album, ‘Snakebit ‘n’ Boogie’ mix Brad’s wry tales with boot-stompin’ rhythms. From down home afternoon harmonica blues to full tilt rockin bar boogie, the boys know how to play and deliver. ANGRY PENGUINS
06/04/2012 6:45 pmThe ‘Angry Penguins’ are one of the longest running acts on the Northern NSW Coast. The duo of Roo and Danny hail from Lismore and mainly play those retro classic rock/pop
songs that people can’t get enough of. There’s a sprinkling of the best songs of the last decade too but in fact they have such a big repertoire that they can play to just about any crowd. They are known as a great live act who get the audience involved by playing with the crowd not at them, and creating an infectious fun vibe with their tongue-in-cheek antics and lyrics. And they are happy to take requests and aim their repertoire for the night at the crowd actually present.
“We have a reputation for being Crowd Pleasers but the Angry Penguins don’t like to rest on our laurels” says Roo. ‘We are always striving to improve and are always updating, (whether it’s our repertoire or equipement) so as to eradicate the ‘boredom’ factor both for us and the audience. We guarantee you’ll never hear us playing the same old songs in the same old order.’

SOUTHERLY CHANGE
07/04/2012 9:30 pmSoutherly Change is one of the fastest evolving bands on the South Coast of NSW. Originally a group of four mates, the band currently consist of anything between a simple guitar, vocals and hand percussion set-up, to an eight-piece group with horn section, keys, bass, and harmonica. This versatility extends to the music’s aesthetics also, with the drummer’s training in Ghana, the keys and sax players’ training in jazz, the heavy blues influence of the harmonica, and the simple and subtle guitar and lyrical melodies of the band’s singer-songwriter Ben Fowler, creating a richly textured and dynamic musical experience. Many of the musicians involved have also payed at established music festivals such as Womad, Woodford, The Dreaming, National Folk Festival, Summer Rhythm and Corinbank. In any one performance, Southerly Change will have you up for a boogie, singing along with the catchy yet beautifully poignant lyrics, or relaxing to the earthy, islander vibes. They have recently released their first CD ‘Bow and Arrow’, so whether you grab a copy or catch them at a gig, be prepared to be blown away by Southerly Change!
THE FERAMONES

Dubbed as the Northern River’s very own “Supergroup”, The Feramones are comprised of a myriad of internationally acclaimed musicians.
RICK FENN, lead guitarist of 10cc, has been touring the world with his group for more than 30 years. He also wrote, with Mike Oldfield, the international hit “Family Man” for Hall and Oates, and three film scores and an album with Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason featuring Dave Gilmore. A highly accomplished rock musician, Rick brings a strong influence of 70’s/80’s rock to the Feramones’ repertoire, including his own world-wide hit, “Dreadlock Holiday”.
Also on guitar is ALAN LIMBRICK, who recently toured the world with Mike Oldfield, and has recorded with Joan Armatrading and David Knoffler.
Founder of the internationally renowned London Guitar Institute, Alan was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to music education. As a session guitarist, he has played on dozens of internationally successful records for a variety of recording artists.
On keyboards is ALAN PARK, Cliff Richard’s musical director and pianist for more than two decades. His impressive recording and touring career includes projects with Olivia Newton-John, Don Everley, Skunk Baxter, Manhattan Transfer, Elaine Page, and comedy artists Hale and Pace, Billy Connelly and Dame Edna. Alan’s keyboard and piano virtuosity brings exceptional variety to The Feramones repertoire.
Bass player GREG LYON has a catalogue of recording credits dating back to his fusion band Crossfire in the 70’s. He toured for years with Georgie Fame, Renee Geyer, Elvin Bishop, Glenn Shorrock, and most recently, US legend Rodriguez. Northern Rivers locals may remember his Byron-based band Hip Pocket in the 80’s and 90’s.
Lead vocalist COL GERMANO is best known as the singer/songwriter for 80’s/90’s hard rock band Bourbon Street. A highly versatile vocalist, Col has sung with some of the world’s great guitarists, including Joe Walsh, Skunk Baxter, Ian Moss, Diesel and Kevin Borich. In his other vocation as a journalist, Col has worked closely with Ozzy Osbourne, George Thorogood, Peter Garret, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Barnes and Jerry-Lewis.
Dubbed the “Charlie Watts of Australia”, RICK LLOYD is one of this country’s most talented and highly-regarded drummers. His career spans five decades and he has worked with some of Australia’s finest musicians, including his own group RAM. With a versatility and rare level of skill, Rick handles anything the group throws at him with remarkable precision and endless raw energy.
Together, the six members of the Feramones bring a rare combination of talent to the Northern Rivers area. Their repertoire is comprised of the great songs of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, including hits by the Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, ZZ Top and the like. Their pure love for the music creates a festive atmosphere that inspires all walks of life to join the party on the dance floor.

1. First you must Read and Agree to the terms and conditions listed below:
Terms & Conditions
- Contestants must be of 18 years or older before commencement of competition (February 17th)
- The Lennox Hotel will supply 2 x Pioneer CDJ850’s + A Pioneer DJM800 Mixer + All PA & Lighting equipment. You are allowed to supply your own equipment (be it vinyl or whatever you prefer to use)
- You may be required to produce a demo tape and/or be asked to show your DJ skills prior to the commencement of competition to the event organizer.
- You are to arrive at The Lennox Hotel no less than 1hour before you are to play your set to ensure all equipment is working correctly and at your standard.
- Your equipment and personal belongings whilst competing at the hotel is of your responsibility at all times.
- Thus being a competition you will not be paid for your set or for your time.
- Your available for a 1 hour event introduction to be held Sunday 12th February, where you’ll be informed on how the event will run.
- Competition dates are as follows: – All heats/semi/grand finals will be held on a Friday night. The Grand final will be held over 2 nights, a Friday and Saturday (7 weeks total). You must be available to play on all of these date:
- Round 1 – 17th February
- Round 2 – 24th February
- Round 3 – 2nd March
- Round 4 – 9th March
- Semi final 1 – 16th March
