Jimi Beavis Experience

Jimi Beavis is all class.  The gentleman giant of the Brisbane Blues scene.  Standing at 6’2″ he towers over the members of his band, but still stands in the shadows of the blues giants from whom he draws his inspiration.
Jimi’s original songs draw upon the old school rhythms that gave the blues their good time dancibility. And yet the songs remain relevant, contemporary and irresistible to live audiences when Jimi delivers them in his inimitable charismatic way.
Previously the front man of good-time blues act, Jimi Beavis and the 385s, 2010 has been a year of rebirth for Jimi. For the new project, Jimi is working with a core band, consisting of guitar prodigy Dave McGuire, Kirsten Baade on bass/double bass and drummer Geoff Parsons.
Jimi won the BASEQ’s Performer of the Year in 2009 and has played: Sunshine Coast Blues Festival, 2008 and 2009, Woodford Folk Festival 2009/2010, Brisbane Blues Festival 2010, Australian Festival of Blues 2010 and Broadbeach Blues Festival 2011. He also plays regularly in South-East Queensland.
He released his first solo EP No Need To Deny It this year and is currently working on songs for his first album.

Originally from Kuranda in Australia, Dave Cooke has been a full-time musician from 2001, working both across the country and overseas. During the past few years, he has won over plenty of music lovers, sold thousands of his CDs and seen his fan base become particularly strong across the far northern region in places such as Cairns, Port Douglas, Kuranda, Mission Beach and Cooktown.

In Dave’s music, one finds a simple yet amazing mixture of acoustic guitar, powerful vocals, stomp box and didgeridoos which together produce rich tunes with driving intensity and interesting diversity.

Cooke’s style is a combination of roots and folk. Apart from recording his second album titled ‘hieroglyphs’ in Kuranda, the musician has been busy performing all over Australia, played support for Ash Grunwald in Cairns and performed alongside acts such as Dallas Frasca, Tijuana Cartel and Daniel Champagne two years running at the Wallaby ck festival near Cooktown.

Now you can watch Dave live when he takes the stage at the Lennox. What makes him extraordinary is that he has a broad appeal and does classics, roots, blues, folk and pop styles. Through these diverse abilities, the man can engage any audience, so no matter what your age and musical taste, be sure not to miss this event.
