“You’re headed for some big things” were the final words from Tony Johnston of ABC Radio in a recent live radio interview. Contemporary Irish singer-songwriter Mick McHugh is paving a career in the Aussie music scene with his positive acoustic folk sound that has been likened to “an Irish Cat Stevens” by the Northern Star. In 2009, the Irish Troubadour clocked up twelve nominations in International, National and Regional songwriting contests  in  a number of categories, including Song of the Year, World, Folk, Lyrics, Ballad, Instrumental, Spiritual andProtest. “…..easily the most under-rated rock n roll band in the country” – Murray Engleheart, THE BRAG, November 2009 The Dunhill Blues are the noisiest bunch of malcontents this side of the petticoat. They play rock n roll, and they play anywhere, anytime…”

Two of the Australian Blues / Roots scene’s most promising emerging artists – Genevieve Chadwick and ‘Hollerin’ Matt Southon – have joined forces, putting together a powerhouse show of old school blues and funky acoustic roots/rock. Both hailing from the far south coast of NSW, these high energy performers are touring the east coast this October and November. Fresh from debut performances at Great Southern Blues and Roots & Australian Blues  Festivals, Matt Southon has been concentrating on spreading his ‘Australian Verandah Blues’- a unique blend of music inspired by the passion and fire of old style bluesman like Son House, Charlie Patton & Leadbelly. With a resonator crafted from old corrugated iron, and a powerful singing style, Matt can’t hide the fact that his love of the old blues has combined with a love of stuff like the Ramones or the Dead Kennedy’s. Genevieve, fresh from recording her debut album ‘Riding the wind, forgetting time’ has  songs of love, loss, freedom and the love of life combine with her gravel-voiced delivery and exuberant guitar to produce a style already favorably compared with Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, Tracy Chapman or Joan Armatrading.

Formed in 2007, and combining former members of prolific bands Dr Octopus and The Vagrants, these 5 lads have already become a Gold Coast icon.
Says lead singer Dave, “We wanted to remember what made rock music great, so we decided to write songs using that same raw energy and volume as the bands we had idolized”.
With over 25 years of stage experience between them, the gentlemen have set about making a name for themselves on a local and international scale. Having recorded their EP “Ticket to Pripyat’ in 2008, the boys have started work on a full length album, which is set to take the world by storm.

With a singing drummer, identical twin guitarists and a bloody lunatic bass player – its easy to see why Weapon Head are making people take notice. The boys have had the pleasure of supporting Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio plus Alice Cooper in the U.S, have won many National and International songwriting awards, have got 2 videos being played on RAGE, Landed Music and Channel V, and are getting rave album reviews all throughout The U.K and Europe. The live show Weapon Head bring is sweaty, relentless, stoner fuzzed out rock – and the boys do not lay off the pedal – its a full on aural assault! Smack bang in the middle of their East Coast tour – do yourself a favour and get down to The Lennox Pub on Oct. 1 and see what all the fuss is about.
